I view imagination as key to transforming how we, as adults, nurture children and honor the magic they bring to the world. My role as a healthcare practitioner is to support families in incorporating practical strategies into their daily lives so that children can grow up to be the compassionate and powerful beings they are destined to become.
My therapeutic approach emphasizes collaborative care by incorporating the unique needs of the child and their family during the treatment process. In practice, sessions often involve play-based activities tailored to the child's interests, along with caregiver coaching within familiar home or community settings. My values as a healthcare practitioner are deeply inspired by the disability justice movement's commitment to empowerment and inclusion. My professional practice draws upon the Intentional Relationship Model and the Model of Human Occupation.
I offer support for your child’s IEP goals relevant to occupational therapy. My background as a school-based occupational therapist equips me with the knowledge to support your family.
Sessions typically occur one time per week June through August.
Services are provided in your home to address your family’s unique needs. For specific treatment areas, see below under 'my specialties'.
Sessions can occur as often as 1x/week or as little as 1x/month year-round.
Join us for our creativity workshops, an affordable alternative to routine therapy. Each season, I offer workshops for kids and their families where they create their own artistic masterpiece. Parents and caregivers have space to connect and build community amongst themselves. Throughout the workshop, I offer suggestions on how to support your child’s autonomy and freedom of expression. I work on making daily tasks more manageable. Relevant routines include: teeth brushing, showering, toileting, feeding, and sleep.
I address challenges with perceiving visual information, which may impact your child’s ability to read, write, do math, and find objects.
I work with kids on the coordination and movement of their hands to manipulate objects, play, and use tools such as scissors and markers.
I provide support with the mental processes needed to create a plan, participate in multi-step tasks, and sustain attention.
I educate clients on interoception, the bodily sense that enables us to identify what emotions feel like in our bodies. In sessions, families learn how to manage challenging feelings effectively.
Kids have unique responses to the information their brain receives via various senses, such as vision, hearing, and touch. I work with families on sensory needs in the community and in daily routines.
